The Fakro Attic Stair is German made for strength and replaces standard builder grade wood attic stair units. It fits rough openings from 22 inches wide and lengths of 47 or 54. Most replacements will be 22x47 in the Atlanta area. These units are easy to install. Moving to the 22x54 is not difficult and means the cross ceiling joist moves back 7 inches for a longer opening (minimal sheetrock & trim work). The spring unit is under the ladder connected to the door. This can add 4-5 inches to opening width and make moving boxes so much easier. The metal ladder supports 350 lbs and is strong, but easily unfolds to ceiling heights of 7'1" to 10'1". The Door locks into the sealed frame which stops AC and Heat loss into your attic. The savings from your utility bills could help pay for the ladder.

The 22x47 unit is typically in stock and ready for pickup. Other sizes are available for wider openings that are 22x54, 25w or 30w units.
